How do I access the live classes?
To access the live classes, click the relevant link in the timetable above. This will open up the meeting in Zoom. The meeting will start when the host joins the meeting, at the time indicated in the timetable.
How do I view the class on a large screen, like a TV?
If you are accessing the class via your computer browser, you can connect your computer to your TV using an HDMI cable, if your computer has an HDMI port.
If you have a Chromecast device in your home, you can use this to display the class on your TV. Simply open the class link using your Chrome browser, then click More, then Cast in the top right of your browser. If your Chromecast device is already connected, the class will replace what’s on your TV automatically. Please bear in mind that, when watching the class in front of the TV, the instructor will not be able to see you.
Do I need an ipad to access the classes?
You can access the classes on any device connected to the internet. You can access the classes via smart phones, desktop computers and tablets such as ipads.
Can everyone in the class see me?
That depends on you. You can choose to turn off your video if you’d rather not be seen during the class. Sometimes the instructor may want to see you, for example during a fitness class, to ensure they can correct the way in which some exercises are completed. It’s important they’re able to give you feedback so you can interact online as if you were face to face.
Do I need a Zoom account to join the class?
You don’t need a Zoom account to attend a Zoom class. You will be prompted to download the software once you have clicked on the class link. You may wish to create a Zoom account, or may already have one, but this is not required to access a Civic@Home class.
How do I download Zoom?
If you click on the link for your class, you will be prompted to download the software. You can also download the software ahead of time, by visiting https://zoom.us/download and, from the Download Center, click on the Download button under “Zoom for client meetings”.
