Last week, our Literacy Program, a wonderful collaboration between the New Era and Masonic groups, proved that it’s never too late to celebrate the spirit of Australia!
The group spent the first half of our session putting the finishing touches on their Australia Day crafts. The room was filled with creativity as the participants built miniature versions of our nation’s most beloved landmarks: the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. To keep the inspiration flowing, they listened to the beautiful sounds of Indigenous music while hand-painting our own unique boomerangs. It was a fantastic way to honour our history and culture through art.
But the excitement didn’t stop there! The group officially kicked off the new focus on the 2026 Winter Olympics.
To get into the competitive spirit, the group dove into:
- Action-packed videos showcasing winter sports like skiing and snowboarding.
- Behind-the-scenes looks at the incredible athletes selected for the team.
- Virtual tours of Italy, learning about the food, culture and snowy landscapes the athletes currently call home.
The energy was infectious but they aren’t done yet! The participants will be continuing their Olympic journey next week as they dive deeper into the games.
