Excitement is building in Sutherland Shire! Last week, Civic CEO, Annie Doyle, and Board Director, Glen Coleman, attended a site visit at Civic’s brand-new development in Bangor. Completing a walkthrough of the site, the feedback is unanimous: these villas are going to be a game-changer for the region, providing essential social and affordable housing to people in urgent need.
Nestled in a quiet, leafy pocket of the Shire, close to schools, transport and essential services, the five modern, self-contained villas are the result of a partnership between Civic and Housing Australia.
Designed with both style and accessibility in mind, they offer a high-quality sanctuary for people on the NSW Housing Register and those eligible for Affordable Rental Housing. And, built with accessible features, the individual units offer the perfect space for anyone seeking an NDIS Individual Living Option (ILO).
During the site visit, Annie and Glen explored the functional layouts that have been designed to empower residents to live life on their terms. Whether it’s the four 1-bedroom villas or the spacious 2-bedroom option, every inch has been purpose-built to foster safety, security and independence while keeping essential local amenities close at hand. Plus, rooftop solar and a common battery storage will keep power bills affordable.
The villas, which have been delivered as part of the $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund, and which will be managed by Cawarra Residential, will deliver critical housing to those at risk of homelessness, some of whom may be living with disability.
The development is now on the final stretch, with tenants able to move in from June 2026. If you or someone you support is seeking social housing in the Shire, please reach out to our team to discuss eligibility and support options.
