Sydney Trains Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

Staff at Sydney train stations are now trained to recognise the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower and provide additional assistance to individuals who may need some extra help when using public transport.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a global campaign, first established in the UK in 2016. Wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower merchandise discreetly indicates to people around you, including staff, colleagues and health professionals that you have a non-visible disability and you may need additional support.

Sydney Trains staff are trained to recognise the Sunflower and provide extra support to wearers including:

  • Ensuring enough time to get on and off train services
  • Help navigating through busy train stations
  • Support during disruptions and travel changes
  • Help finding quiet spaces as needed

Lanyards and Wristbands are available free of charge. These can be ordered online to be delivered or can be picked up from select train stations including Sutherland, Hurstville, Campbelltown, Liverpool and Penrith stations.
